INTRODUCTION OF HEMJO KLEIN
Stamford, CT – We are pleased to announce the addition of Mr. Hemjo Klein to our Saugatuck IV Board of Advisors.
Hemjo brings a wealth of operating experience to Saugatuck Capital. He started his career with Lufthansa Airlines in the ground operations and quickly rose to the general manager of Ground operations for Western and Eastern Europe. Within 12 years of starting he was promoted to vise president responsible for Lufthansa’s In-flight Services. From 1975-1981 he was the Chief Executive of LSG Lufthansa, the international in-flight catering operations that serves many of the world’s major airlines.
In 1981 he left Lufthansa to join the executive board of Neckermann Versand, Germany’s largest mail order and Retail Company with the express purpose of affecting a turnaround in the profitability of the company.
In 1982, at the personal request of the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, he went to work Deutchse Bundesdahn, the national railway company with the express purpose of restructuring the railway system. In the reunification of Germany he was charged with the responsibility of integrating the two rail systems into one company. In 1992, He resigned from his position of Deputy Chairman and member of the executive board to rejoined Lufthansa as a member of the executive board and chief executive officer of the passenger division. At the time he was called back to Lufthansa, the airline was in serious trouble as was the entire civil aviation industry. He retired from Lufthansa in 1998.
Hemjo also serves as an adjunct professor in general management and marketing at two different German Universities.
